Responsibilities
- Assess students’ fine motor skills, sensory processing, coordination, self-care, and functional abilities.
- Develop and implement individualized intervention plans based on assessment results.
- Provide one-to-one or small group therapy sessions within classroom or therapy settings.
- Monitor student progress and adjust intervention plans as needed.
- Support students with special needs, learning difficulties, developmental delays, or physical challenges.
- Recommend classroom adaptations, assistive devices, and ergonomic supports.
- Promote inclusive practices to help students participate fully in academic and school activities.
- Work closely with teachers, special education staff, counselors, and school administrators.
- Provide guidance and training to teachers and parents on strategies to support student development.
- Participate in Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions.
- Maintain accurate assessment records, therapy notes, and progress reports.
- Prepare written reports for parents, teachers, and school management.
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with school policies and professional standards.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and needs.
- Provide home-based strategies and recommendations to support continuity of care.
- Stay updated with best practices in pediatric and school-based occupational therapy.
- Adhere to ethical standards and relevant regulations.
- Participate in professional development and school meetings as required.
Requirements
- Degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognized institution.
- Registered or licensed Occupational Therapist (as per local regulations).
- Experience working with children in a school or pediatric setting is preferred.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Patient, empathetic, and child-centered approach.
